25,000 Square Foot Facility Based in Kenner, Louisiana

Mendota Heights, MN — Last Mile Home, a home delivery logistics provider, opened a 25,000 sq. ft. distribution center in the New Orleans metro last week, according to General Manager Brian Tennant.  Situated in Kenner, LA, the DC services South Louisiana and the extreme southern portions of surrounding states, he said.

“We are currently running 3-4 delivery teams per day for a high end furniture retailer’s local market, one of several dozen such markets throughout the country,” Tennant said. He said that translates into upwards of 30 -40 deliveries/day, and he said that additional local market customers are nearing an agreement for final mile delivery services.  The facility also created 10 new jobs for the area.

“We equip all our drivers with tablet technology powered by DispatchTrack®,” he said, “which gives us real time GPS truck tracking and route optimization.” The technology offers clear visibility into the delivery ETA for customers and the consumers who are waiting for delivery. Last Mile Home also performs furniture inspections at the Kenner DC and its furniture repair technician performs final touch ups before items are blanket wrapped and out for delivery.

“This particular customer chose Last Mile Home’s specialized services in several other markets,” Tennant said. “Like the other markets in which we provide them service, we are excited to take on the New Orleans market and bring its performance up to the high standards the customer desires.” He added that the potential to serve other local or national retailers final mile logistics also played a role in the company’s decision to open the DC there.
